Audi e-Tron GT 2023 – the one who will push the Porsche Taycan?

Audi e-Tron GT 2023 – the one who will push the Porsche Taycan?

The Audi e-Tron GT 2023 model is a four-seat electric sedan in many ways similar to the notorious Porsche Taycan in appearance and technically. So, both cars have a single platform and about 40% of similar components. However, Audi’s development has an excellent advantage for those who are used to comfortable and “natural” driving on gasoline cars and do not want to give up such pleasure. What did the company come up with so interesting?

The Audi e-Tron GT model is of interest for its unique history. Few people know that the car was the first for the company to enter production without first creating a physical prototype. Moreover, only two years had passed since the presentation of the concept in 2018 before the car rolled off the assembly line. The model managed to light up even in the big cinema. In particular, this car by Tony Stark (aka “Iron Man”) from the movie “The Avengers. The final”. Of course, clever marketing is not the only merit of Audi.

What’s new?

Compared with the previous generation, the Audi e-Tron GT 2023 model year changes the car’s appearance. The front grille of the new shape is the same color as the body and the contrast disappeared by the carbon inserts with a matte finish placed on the exterior. Finally, the car received anthracite brake calipers and 21-inch wheels, which organically complement the body’s appearance. It is worth noting that the wheels are slightly smaller in the basic configuration – their diameter is 20 inches.

The novelty is distinguished from the early generations by the appearance of a second charging port on the front passenger side, anti-theft wheel bolts, and a professional Bang & Olufsen brand audio system. Another improvement is that the rearview mirror has received additional functions. A rear seat heating package and atmospheric interior lighting appeared in an expensive configuration.

Today, in addition to the Porsche Taycan, the popular Tesla Model S is a strong competitor for the Audi e-Tron GT 2023. Since Elon Musk’s company came up with it and set a specific world order in the electric car industry, it’s hard to say who it doesn’t pose a business threat. However, this does not prevent Audi from using interesting technologies that do not exist in Tesla or include the “natural” effect of driving.

Audi e-Tron GT Engines

There are as many as two of them – electric motors work in pairs and provide a four-wheel drive system, the same as in the notorious Audi Quattro car, but only electric. The standard e-Tron GT develops a power of 522 hp, while the RS version already produces 637 hp. The transmission is also engaging here. Firstly, it is here, which is already unusual for electric cars, and secondly, it has two stages. The first is responsible for a confident start, but the second is responsible for the effective transmission of the moment.

The car showed acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ h in just 2.9 seconds during the tests. This result puts the e-Tron GT on the list of the most dynamic production cars for public roads.

When developing an electric car, Audi abandoned the standard single-pedal control scheme and allowed the driver to experience more natural sensations while driving. Of course, regenerative braking with a battery charge here and can even configure it. You won’t have to bend far. The control buttons are right on the steering wheel.

Battery

The battery, from which both electric motors is carefully “wrapped” in a rather complex but effective cooling system. It helps the battery to withstand multiple starts and not degrade, at least quickly. The capacity of the lithium-ion battery is 83.7 kWh. According to the EPA, the standard GT model on a single charge will confidently travel 238 miles (383 kilometers), and the RS version, due to increased “appetite,” will pass a little less – 232 miles (373 kilometers).

Audi e-Tron GT will receive a fast charger with a capacity of 270 kW. It is easy to estimate that it will take about 23 minutes to replenish the battery charge level from 5 to 80 percent.

Assistants

It would be surprising if Audi saved on electronic assistants when developing the e-Tron GT 2023 model year. They are in whole order: a warning about a direct collision, blind spot monitoring, notification of cross traffic from behind, and notice of lane departure. A separate assistant keeps the car within the occupied trajectory.

Adaptive cruise control and a remote parking assistance assistant with smartphone control help the driver; even on this, the list of assistants is not limited. In short, driving an e-Tron GT, you can completely relax and not worry about safety.

Interior

The interior design leaves a purely positive impression. A good quality leather finish with several color options is available in expensive trim levels. A simpler version offers surfaces made of recyclable materials. It is a good option for drivers worried about animals and the environment.

Unlike many other premium cars from Audi, the electric e-Tron GT 2023 is not so full of touch screens and digital panels. In the middle of the “working” space, we see a 10.1-inch touchscreen, which buttons can also control the steering wheel and voice commands. The functionality of a Wi-Fi access point is offered based on a subscription. As mentioned earlier, there is wireless charging and an audio system with 16 speakers.

Depending on the configuration, the interior of the electric car by a head-mounted display, a heating, and cooling system for the front seats with a massage option, atmospheric LED interior lighting, and much more. Regardless of the car’s version, the front seats are planted low enough and are at an optimal tilt to ensure a sporty sitting position for people. The rear seats have a suspended structure and give a lot of free legroom.

Audi e-Tron GT Warranty

Another reason to put aside worries before buying an Audi e-Tron GT 2023 is the attractive terms of warranty service. The company covers all components of an electric car for eight years from the date of purchase or until the first 100 thousand miles of mileage (more than 160 thousand kilometers). Audi also has a limited warranty for half the time and a “raid.”

Conclusion

With a spacious five-seat interior, a beautiful interior, a good range, and fast charging – it would be wrong to deny that the new Audi e-Tron GT 2023 is worth the money. The price tag for the novelty is nothing yet, but you can rely on the cost of the previous generation. When it entered the market, its price was 97,800 euros for the base model and 138,200 euros for the RS version. Given the persistent shortage, it would be naïve to believe that the upgraded generation will be cheaper.
