Skoda showed a new style with the Vision 7S crossover and announced the following Kodiaq and Superb
The large SUV debuted in the status of a concept, but the company has already announced that it will transform into a production model. As for the new design, one of the main features will be optics, and Skoda can also borrow a “chip” from a Chinese automaker. The electric prototype of the Skoda Vision 7S does not just hint at what the flagship “green” crossover of the brand will be: it is also a demonstration of a new corporate identity.
So, a new Skoda logo debuted on the show car – it is now “flat” two–dimensional, like many other companies. The arrow with feathers was left but announced that the brand would use the Skoda inscription more often than the usual logo. Note that letter arrows on the current Skoda, but only from the back, will also be a front (as on Vision 7S). By the way, the Skoda inscription itself is in a different font – the check mark (nuts) is now “embedded” in the letter S (previously located above it). Soon, the new logo will appear on the brand’s websites and pages on social networks, and cars will start switching to it in 2023.
A characteristic feature of that very new design is the T–shaped diode optics, and not only the headlights but also the taillights took this form. The plug imitates the radiator grille differently: this element is called Tech-Deck Face. It is flatter than the pin of the serial electric car Skoda Enyaq and the “ribs” with dark glass. The “chips” of the Vision 7S concept are 22–inch wheels, slots in the front bumper, cameras instead of mirrors, rear doors opening against the course of movement, and the absence of a central pillar. The Skoda Vision 7S is larger than the current Kodiaq. The show car is closer in size to VW Teramont: length – 5016 mm, width – 1940 mm, height – 1888 mm, wheelbase – 3075 mm. Ground clearance – 242 mm.
The crossover has a seven-seat interior. Six seats are according to the usual pattern, but the seventh is for a child: the child seat is on top of the central tunnel, just behind the driver’s and front passenger’s seats. Skoda believes that this is the safest place. The crossover also got a “flattened” steering wheel, an 8.8-inch virtual “tidy,” and a multimedia system with a 14.6-inch touchscreen. Can rotate The latest tablet 90 degrees – this solution has long been used by the Chinese company BYD. The Relaxing mode for Vision 7S: after its activation, the front panel, steering wheel, and pedals move further away from the driver and passengers, and the seats of the first and second rows tilt backward. Curiously, at the same time, Skoda does not mention autopilot.
The company did not disclose the technical characteristics of the concept. The Vision 7S on the Volkswagen MEB platform, on which the rest of the concerned “electric trains,” the cross has an all-wheel drive and a battery with a capacity of 89 kWh. The declared “range” is 600 km.
A serial electric SUV “based on Vision 7S” will appear by 2026. In the same period, they promise to release two more “electric trains” — a critical and a compact SUV. At the same time, Skoda does not forget about the “traditional” models: in the second half of 2023, the Superb and Kodiaq of the next generations will, and in 2024, the restyled Octavia will enter the market. Cars with internal combustion engines will also have a design based on Vision 7S. Meanwhile, I, the designer at,Electriccarreporter.com have envisioned the next-generation Skoda Kodiak.
